Nyboder, yellow terrace-houses, from the 17th. Century. Copenhagen, Denmark. Nyboder was built 1631 - 1641 by the Danish king Christian IV as housing for the the Royal Navy private personel and their families. The street names are very charming, but not easy to translate, like this on the picture: Hjertensfrydsgade = Joy-of-Heart-Street. Each of the ca 200 apparments features about 40 M2. The king designed the building together with Hans van Steenwinkel and Leonhard Blasiusz. The apartments are also used today.
